The Experience Of Misa's 3rd Tribute to Hairstyling!

I was once told that I am too nice to run a business.  These words have stuck with me for more than 5 years now.  Well this journey towards Misa’s 3rd Tribute to Hairstyling tested how nice I was.  Now you see many people run businesses off of emotion, which is an epic fail.  It’s hard to separate the two but it can do some serious damage if not separated.   This year I had an amazing team and I am so thankful that they decided to join me on this amazing journey.

Now with any success there is always madness behind the scenes, which is a given, but some of the things I didn’t expect.  Besides the balance of working as a fulltime personal hairstylist, a Full time s online student, an event coordinator, oh and of course, you have life, which has its ups and downs, but everyone knows that.  One of the many things I realized during preparation for this show is that you have people who will only see the hype of what you are doing, and not really take into consideration of  what it took to get there. I realized that this lack of appreciation results in people exploiting others hard work rather than paving their own road to success.

I do see that sometimes I am far too kind and too mindful of others’ feelings, but its just something in my blood.  I can’t really help it.  When you have something that you are passionate about and you deal with people who don’t take it as seriously as you or try to get in the way of you reaching your goal it can cause some ugliness to come out.  I must say I had a few of those ugly moments.   What I should do and should not do in business is clearer to me now than it has ever been before. Oprah said it best, “Everyone wants to ride with you in the limo, but what you want is someone who will take the bus with you when the limo breaks down.”
I love to help those who are close to me, especially people I know who are doing “business .  I quoted business because thanks to social media almost everyone is in business.  My best friend told me that I give people too much credit, which is true.  Just because you may own a business doesn’t necessarily mean you know how to run one. However, I believe that even when you want to help those closest to you, it’s best to work with strangers.  They just seem to deliver a little better.  Of course, you always have your exceptions, but choosing whom to work with is usually risky.  I had a few moments when I wanted to say, “Excuse me, do I work for you?” I wanted to say a little more, but I had to control myself.  I had to realize that how I respond to ignorance and or stupidity not only would it reflect on me as an individual but my brand as well.  I just chose not to respond to ignorance by being ignorant.  I could not fathom how ridiculous people can be.  Many failed to realize that I Misa is a businesswoman first, Hairstylist second, friendship and everything comes after.
With everything that took place before the process and during the process I must say that Misa’s 3rd Tribute to Hairstyling was an amazing show and an absolute success.  My models were amazingly sweet, punctual, and professional. They reflected my vision, showcasing beauty from all different backgrounds and cultures, shapes and sizes.  My show reflected what I hope to see more of in the world, you know, something we call unity.  I couldn’t have asked for a greater set of women.  They treated each other as family. Girls you did a phenomenal job!!!   Once again I would like to thank House of Flores. My day started at 7am and ended at a little after 7pm, and I didn’t have anything to worry about other than doing hair.  House of Flores intended on making sure my day went smoothly and they delivered successfully!   If you missed this year’s event, check out a piece of what you missed with these images by Rick Jones Photography and stay tuned for video footage By Spugy Ink Films.  Last but not least, make sure you don’t miss Misa’s 4th Tribute to Hairstyling 2015!!!!
