Hey my hair lovessss! So I’ve been meaning to share an
interesting moment that happened a while back, and I was just a little bothered
by it (hehe bothered may be an understatement).
I am glad I decided to wait, because I can share some other things as well…so
anywho one day I had a client at a salon that came earlier then expected, and
when I walked in she had been waiting for 30 minutes (instantly ticked off) WHY?
Because there were two other stylists who could have contacted me especially
since she had stated she was there for me (of course I would have done the
same) WHY? Because at the end of the day we are a team, but then again this
could all be because of GREED, ENVY, and just bitter and selfish individuals
who don’t care about anything unless it is beneficial for them…This is one of
the many negative factors of working in a salon or choosing which one to work
in…. when you get out of beauty school unless you are born with gifted hair
hands you are a sponge so you want to absorb as much knowledge as possible…We
receive this knowledge by salon education or you take outside classes and
learn from other stylists as well… WE CAN ALL LEARN SOMETHING FROM EACH
OTHER…So when I saw the type of people these women were (or should I say girls
because women aren’t like that) I was immediately turned off and said these
aren’t the type of people I want to work with nor be around…. Lol but no really
a salon should be like a family because trust me when I tell you clients can
feel that negative energy as soon as they walk in and it is not a great feeling…
Clients and hairstylists dos and don’t’ (hopefully I don’t
miss any but you can always add on in the comment box) J
Clients:
Please be on time for
your appointment that is most important! I think most complaints about salon
hairstylists are that we suck at time management (or we are booking 5 people at
the same time because we are money hungry -__- but in the long run your
decreasing your revenue). However, when
you are late you mess up the schedule not only for the stylists but the clients
after you. (Be considerate) if you are running late call or cancel… some salons
will charge you an inconvenience fee AND I DON’T BLAME THEM
No conversations with other parties while you are getting
your hair done… MUST YOU REALLY BE TALKING ON YOUR PHONE DURING YOUR SHAMPOO? (It
slows down the process) SO NOT COOL
STYLISTS;
Some of us aren’t fortunate to have an assistant or
receptionists to answer our phone, but unless it’s an emergency keep that
conversation to a minimum and GET OFF THE PHONE… clients don’t care about your
problems…and if they do they have too much time on their hands and need to find
other topics of interest…REMEMBER MISERY LOVES COMPANY….
If you are doing hair MAKE SURE YOU PROMOTE BEAUTY AS WELL
AND YOU DON’T LOOK LIKE YOU ARE READY TO CLEAN YOUR HOUSE OR START A FIGHT...really you have a scarf on and you are suppose to do my hair? ... GIRL BYE!
SANITATIONNNNN SUPER DUPER IMPORTANT… but then again that’s
pretty self-explanatory
Be professional at all times don’t stop doing someone’s hair
because you want to see the chaos going on outside
Plan your schedule accordingly don’t overbook yourself. Unless
you have clients that have all day to waste (which is unusual) DON’T DO IT”….
If you have an assistant work it out amongst them and take it from there…don’t
be greedy because those five you booked at the same time 2 or 3 of them
probably wont be coming back and ONCE AGAIN I DON’T BLAME THEM. Most people
work a 9-5 and you want them to work another shift coming into the SALON?
UGHHHH NOOOOO!
Well I am sure there is more but you see where I am coming
from! LETS CHANGE THE WAY PEOPLE VIEW OUR INDUSTRY AND ESPECIALLY MINORITIES
