So as I was doing one of my clients hair yesterday something
made us bring up the process of a shampoo. Should a shampoo include a vigorous
scalp manipulation with the stylist’s fingernails? In my opinion NO! I think
that it is extremely gross and unsanitary, however that is just my opinion. Some may feel like you get a better shampoo
by scratching the heck out of it, but I think you are really causing
irritation. A good shampoo to me is when
the hair and scalp is properly cleansed with the groove of your fingers. I remember when I was getting my hair washed
and I literally felt like my scalp was going to bleed the way she was
scratching it and of course the Passive Misa didn’t say anything, because I
didn’t want her to feel a way ( so I just made painful faces a little more
dramatic lol) However, this is what you can do because no one really likes when
a customer tells the employee how to do their job.. right? I think so!!! Just
politely say “Excuse me but can you please not scratch my scalp or let them no
know you have sensitive scalp beforehand” I am glad that I have experienced
these things, because I always let my clients know that they can speak to me
about anything. I always ask a lot of
questions, because I want them to feel as comfortable as possible. This helps a lot especially with preventing
any form of miscommunications.
“I have a lot of build up so I feel it is necessary to
scratch my scalp”
Shampoos and conditioners have different roles for your hair
needs. If you realize you have too much
build up, which can be caused from excessively moisturizing products and other
factors then use a clarifying shampoo.
Now what a clarifying shampoo does is lift the impurities off your
scalp. So in other words it is a deep
cleanser. It causes the hair to feel
kind of hard, but you would use a different shampoo to soften your hair and add
those nutrients back that were taken out.
“My scalp is very dry and I have a lot of flaking”
There is no need for you to clog your pores with Grease! There
are conditioners that can be used on the scalp and hair to stop that ( I
mentioned one of my favorites in my previous post). Some scalp problems are more intense than
others, but if it is you may have to go to a dermatologist.
Look what works best for you and stop putting your hair
through those vigorous hands.
I simply wanted to write down a quick word to say thanks to you for those wonderful tips and hints you are showing on this site.
