LOVE WHAT YOU DO

Working in a salon as an assistant I realized that you have some people who will help you and some who wont. WHY? because they are Selfish...Once you finish cosmetology and you feel like you still need training, which most of us do (unless you were just born with skill).  Look for a owner or an establishment who aren't so much into themselves.  Yes it may be hard to find, because our industry can be full of drama.  However, as an owner he or she should want to help her assistant,s because the point of an assistant is for you learn as well as for you to help the stylist speed up the process.  The assistant isn't there to wipe your butt all day ( literally there were times I felt like a CNA of the hospital).  But then again all that is worth it if YOU ARE GETTING THE EDUCATION YOU NEED TO BECOME AN EXCELLENT STYLIST.  If you are currently an assistant with an owner who only promotes her work and not the rest of her stylists Good luck.  I doubt you will last there long.  As an owner you are apart of your team one stylist should always help the next stylist this not only makes the salon look good but the OWNER as well... Helloooo.. When I see this I am like you are going to have a crazy employee turnover rate, because you have SELFISH written all over you.  As an owner be a leader and those around you will insist on following you.
