WHICH IS MORE IMPORTANT YOUR HAIRCARE OR YOUR HAIRSTYLE?

So as I was doing my Mother’s sew in the other day a question popped in my head to ask her.  What is more important to you your hair condition or your hairstyle? She replied “ my hairstyle”.  Of course that sounded ridiculous to me, because both should be just as important, but I am always for hair care.  Working fast is great, but working both fast and efficiently is better. Sometimes I can’t believe my eyes when I see a person first sit in a hairstylist chair, and when they leave the chair.  Clients will walk in with weak edges and certain patches throughout the hair, which looks damaged and then still, apply glue or extensions in areas that need a break.  If you know that your hair is weak in a certain area, but you really insist on getting extensions leave that area out if possible or just give your hair a rest.  It is nice to walk out a salon with a fabulous extension installment, but when you are ready to take it out your hair should be in great condition as well.  I remember when speaking to a lady I had met, and she stated she didn’t care how her natural hair looked, because she wore extensions 365 days.  Now I love extensions, because they can show so much versatility, but just as plants need oxygen and nutrients to grow our scalp is the same way. How can your scalp get the oxygen and nutrients it needs if you are covering it up all the time? It’s pretty much impossible!  So as a hairstylist I recommend that you give yourself a protein treatment about 2 weeks before installment and a moisture treatment prior to installment.   Some people leave in sew-ins 2-3 months, which is too long.  I am sure that you are aware of that from the smell of the bacteria in your hair.  Another reason for the smell could be from not allowing your braids to dry fully after you shampoo your hair, or you can have a sweaty scalp such as myself.  Because of my scalp condition I have to shampoo my hair more often, which causes me not to leave sew ins in any longer than 4-6 weeks and 6 weeks is pushing it for me (but of course that is just laziness).  When you shampoo your hair (when necessary) while you have extensions apply seabreeze to the scalp prior to shampooing.  Seabreeze is a cleanser that can be used for the face and scalp.  This product is only necessary when you have a full sew in with minor leave out or none at all.  So lovely people make sure you put as much pride in your natural hair as you do with your hairstyle.
